Mount Kalaga's pine forest at early morning is the best hunting environment in Leonida — tall straight pines filtering low light into the grass below, wildlife moving through the corridors between tree lines, the temperature still cool enough that breath is visible and sound travels well. Two hunters work together through the undergrowth — one in orange for visibility, one in camo for the opposite reason. Their rifles are carried low, which means they are tracking something and they know where it is. The deer visible in the lower right of the frame has not yet realized this. The forest around them holds considerably more than deer. Kalaga hunting is not a casual activity. The terrain is demanding, the wildlife is dangerous at the top end, and the pine corridors require navigation skills that cannot be improvised. Go with someone who knows the forest or spend the time learning it first.
