About Brian Heder
Brian has been running operations out of the Leonida Keys for longer than most of his competitors have been alive, and he's learned exactly one thing about the area that actually matters: patience. He knows which waters are productive at which hours, which locals can be trusted with what information, and where the best fishing in the Keys is — because he uses the same spots for things that aren't fishing. If Brian recommends somewhere, it's worth going. He doesn't make suggestions he hasn't personally verified.
Travel Tips
- •The fishing off the south end of the Keys is better than anything the tourist charters offer — go before dawn
- •The Rusty Anchor at 4 PM is when the people worth talking to show up. Arrive before them
- •The Causeway looks straightforward. It isn't always. Know which bridges close in bad weather
- •The boat yard isn't a tourist destination. Don't treat it like one
